Polymer Clay Dishes. !

Hi everyone.

You know what I am loving these days? Its the Polymer Clay.
It kind of makes me nostalgic and brings me back to my childhood. When I was a kid, I and my brother used to love clay modeling. We used to own a Modeling Clay kit which included different colors of clay and the various molds and tools to work with. Those were the simple pleasures of life.*sigh*

Anyway, Today's tutorial is based on my love for clay art. I am totally fanatic about cute things. I just love to spruce up my room with my cute creations. As I was surfing on Pinterest, I stumbled upon the the tutorial on clay dishes. And I definitely had to make some on my own.

So, Lets play with clay. :)

THINGS YOU'LL NEED :

  • Oven bake clay(Like Premo/Sculpey clay)
  • A roller to flatten the clay
  • An oven safe bowl for shaping and baking
  • Circle cutter(Like a Jar's cap)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Brush

DIRECTIONS :

  • Soften some clay between your hands until it is soft enough to work with. Shape it in a ball.

  • Place the ball on a butter paper and start rolling the clay with the roller to get a uniform thickness. Now, take a cutter and flip it over the rolled clay and trim it down.

  • Take an oven safe bowl and set your clay in it carefully to get that desired bowl shape.

  • Bake it according to the desired directions on your clay pack. Every brand and formula is different from another, so make sure that you check the instructions on your clay pack. And this is how they turned out to be.

I tried to beautify them a little more by painting one with acrylic colors and the other with glitter.
Make sure to seal them off with a coat of Mod Podge.
Don't they look adorable?

Cucumber Eye Gel !

Hi everyone.

Are you suffering from tired puffy eyes?
I am someone who looks tired even after getting an 8 hours sleep. Plus, Spending most of the time on computer worsens the situation. But there is always a concealer for the rescue.

NO, I am not going to blabber on the importance of concealers in our lives. You guys must be knowing enough about it.
This post is about the magical potion that I am using these days instead of my regular under eye cream. I have used a lot of eye creams, but none of them worked. They always made my eyes feel too heavy, watery and irritable.
And then I switched to this natural soothing gel from all those chemical loaded thick eye creams.

I usually apply it around my eye area daily at night and wake up to no-puffy eyes. :)
I cannot comment on its effectiveness on the dark circles, since I don't have any, But It definitely works for tired eyes to look lively. It might work on dark circles too with the continuous use.

Let's get started with the tutorial.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED :

  • A glass jar
  • 4 tsp Aloe Vera gel
  • 4 tsp Cucumber juice
  • A spoon

DIRECTIONS :

  • Blend the cucumber cubes until liquid and strain the juice through a sieve.
  • Take a glass bowl and put in 4 tsp of Aloe Vera gel.
  • Add in 4 tsp of cucumber juice and Mix the concoction well with a spoon.
  • Keep it in the refrigerator. Use it daily at night.

The shelf life of this gel is 1 month in refrigerator. Try to make a small batch so that you are able to use it fully in a month.

It feels very cool and refreshing when applied. Moreover It is cheap, effective and easy to make.

Natural Air Freshner !

 Hi everyone.

I know I know that I have not been very regular here. A lot of things have been happening on the personal front. So, Its just a matter of few days, and I'l be a full time blogger.
Talking about the today's DIY, I am all up for nice fragrances. And when its completely natural free of chemicals/toxic substances, then its an icing on the cake.

Here, the 2 ingredients that I am talking about are the Baking soda and the Essential oil of your choice.
You do not have to spend too much to make your environment smell good. Just a mixture of these 2 things would do.
Let us start with the tutorial.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED :

  • A glass jar
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • Essential Oil (Since I am more into citrus scents, I am using an orange one)
  • Food color(Optional)
  • Foil paper
  • Disposable Spoon
  • Toothpick
DIRECTIONS :
  • Fill the jar with 1/4 cup of baking soda. Put in 8-10 drops of essential oil depending on your choice of how strong the fragrance you want. Add in a teaspoon of food color. Mix the concoction properly with the spoon.

  • Now, cut a piece of foil paper and cover the top of the jar. Poke some holes on it with a toothpick.

Place it anywhere you like. This freshner would help you get rid of any unwanted smell by emitting a light scent. Give it a shake every 2-3 days for that extra scent. You might need to replace the mixture every month. Try it out with different essential oils. You'll love it.

Paper Patchwork Notepad cover. !

Hi everyone.

I am back again with another fun and interesting DIY.

I have always been fond of reading and writing. I believe that just makes me feel stress-free and happy. So, the other day, I realized that I was running out of my favorite "Hallmark" diary pages. And there popped up the idea of making my own customized diary rather than spending on one.
The diary cover actually turned out to be so awesome that I could not stop making some more of them.
So, lets get started with the tutorial.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED :
  • A notepad/ Diary/ Notebook/ Register (Anything that you'd like to transform)
  • Pretty patterned papers/ cut-outs from magazines/photographs (Again it could be anything of your choice)
  • Strong glue (like E-6000)
  • A black point-tip marker

DIRECTIONS :
  •  Cut the patterned paper in different shapes according to the size of the diary and start arranging those pieces leaving a little space between them as is shown in the picture below. Paste them carefully.
  • Take the black marker and start drawing the lines on the edges of the paper pieces close to each other. It will look like as if they are sewn, creating a look of a patch.

  • And you're done. I also made one with the glitter papers. Simply cut the equal sized stripes and paste them horizontally or vertically as you like.

The possibilities are endless. You can make with some different shapes as well. I believe that these kind of thoughtful handmade gifts are more adored than the expensive ones you buy for your loved ones. Do make some for your family and friends.
Be creative.

Thanks.

Priya :)

Frozen Rose and Aloe cubes.!

Hello everyone,

Its August already, and I wonder what's wrong with the weather? Its hot, humid and the rains are nowhere to be seen in Delhi.
Anyway, The DIY that I m going to share today is going to be a perfect solution for all your summer skin woes.
This recipe is made out of 2 simple ingredients,i.e.  Aloe Vera Gel and Rose Water.

As you must be aware of the healing and soothing properties of aloe vera and rose water, this stuff together works magically on sun-burnt skin and itchy skin.

So, Coming to the DIY method, let us start with the ingredients.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED :

  • Aloe Vera Gel (I am using the one from Brihans. However, If you have an aloe vera plant at home, Scrape the gel out from the leaf)
  • Rose water (I am using the VLCC one)
  • Ice cube tray
  • A spoon

DIRECTIONS :

  • Fill half of the tray slots with Aloe Vera Gel and the remaining with Rose water. Stir the mixture with a spoon.

  • Put the tray in the freezer for 4-5 hours in order to freeze the cubes completely.

Use them on the sun-burns or as a moisturizer. It is very refreshing and soothing for the skin and pretty simple to make. You can also add in a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture.
Since it is all natural, store these cubes in the refrigerator. Make few cubes at a time and use them within 2-3 days. And do not substitute these with your sunscreen. Sunscreen always tops the list.

Enjoy. !
